Privacy Policy

How joinFIFO collects, uses, and protects your personal information.

This policy explains how joinFIFO (“we”, “us”, “our”), handles personal information when you use joinfifo.com (the “Site”). We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

By using the Site or buying a guide, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

01What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the Site:

  • Account details — your email address and sign-in information when you create an account or log in.
  • Purchase details — which guides you bought, the date, the amount, and a Stripe customer or payment reference. We do not see or store your full card number; Stripe handles that.
  • Information you give us — answers to quizzes and tools (for example, your country, qualifications, or savings inputs), and anything you send us by email.
  • Approximate location — we use your IP address to estimate your country so we can show relevant guidance. We do not store your IP address for this purpose.
  • Technical data — basic device, browser, and usage information that our hosting provider records in ordinary server logs.
  • Email list — if you sign up for updates, your email address and the fact that you subscribed.

02Cookies and local storage

We use a small number of cookies and browser-storage items:

  • Sign-in cookies set by our authentication provider so you stay logged in.
  • A purchase cookie that records which guides you own on this device so we can unlock them.
  • Local storage in your browser that saves your quiz answers, tickets, and progress so you do not lose them. This stays on your device unless you sign in and choose to sync it to your account.

These are needed for the Site to work. We do not currently use advertising cookies. You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings, but parts of the Site may stop working.

03How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To process payments and unlock the guides you bought.
  • To send receipts, login links, and service messages about your purchase.
  • To provide quizzes, tools, and personalised reports.
  • To send you updates and offers if you subscribed — you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To answer questions and give support.
  • To keep the Site secure, prevent fraud and misuse, and meet our legal obligations.
  • To understand how the Site is used and improve it.

04Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the Site, and only as needed:

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Supabase — account authentication and database hosting.
  • Our website host — serves the Site and keeps server logs.
  • Our email provider — sends transactional emails and, if you subscribed, our updates.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or restructure of the business (in which case the buyer must honour this policy).

05Overseas disclosure

Some of our providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries. When we use them we take reasonable steps to make sure they handle your information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, but we cannot control how overseas providers operate beyond our contract with them.

06Security and retention

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No online system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires (for example, tax and accounting records are usually kept for at least five years). When we no longer need it, we delete or de-identify it.

07Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • Give you a copy of the personal information we hold.
  • Correct information that is wrong or out of date.
  • Delete your account and associated information, subject to records we must keep by law.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us. Service emails about your purchase will still be sent.

We will respond to requests within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.

08Children

The Site is intended for adults looking for work. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

09Links to other sites

The Site links to third-party websites such as job boards, government agencies, and training providers. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies before giving them your information.

10Complaints

If you think we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, contact us and we will investigate and reply in writing.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows the current version. If we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, such as a notice on the Site or an email.
